The Ottoman Bank Archives and Research Centre (OBARC)
This collection includes documents related to the projects and programs of OBARC, which was founded in 1997 in cooperation with the Ottoman Bank and History Foundation. Launched with the exhibition "Traces of History: The Ottoman Bank Archive" (1997), the institution managed the Ottoman Bank Archive and developed programs focusing on the economic and social history of the Ottoman Empire and Turkey. OBARC also established a specialized library, organized the Voyvoda Street Meetings (2000-2010), and founded the Ottoman Bank Museum (2002). It hosted numerous workshops, talks, symposiums, and documentary screenings and published a series of books. Between 2000-2009, OBARC organized the Prize Competition for Research on History of Banking and Finance in collaboration with the European Association for Banking and Financial History, of which it was a member. The institution terminated its activities in 2010 and transferred its infrastructure to Salt.
