Album 1903
The “1903” Album contains over 100 photographs taken at the beginning of the 20th century by a family who lived in Istanbul. Landscape of the city (especially of the Princes’ islands and of the Bosphorus shores) and family pictures comprise the majority of the photographs. Despite the lack of accurate information about the context, the researcher and former IFEA director, Jean-Louis Bacqué-Grammont has suggested that this album could have belonged to a Levantine family from Istanbul. The photographs were displayed in an exhibition organized by the IFEA in the 1991, titled “On recherche Famille X, İstanbul Temps perdu.” [Looking for Family X of Istanbul, Time Lost]
